What is U-SET?
U-SET is an acronym for uterine sperm and egg transfer.
The procedure, similar to both intrauterine insemination and in vitro fertilization, involves stimulation of the ovaries with either Clomid or letrozole as well as a minimal amount of FSH products, the retrieval of one or more mature eggs under IV conscious sedation by means of an ultrasonically guided transvaginal needle; combining the eggs with sperm and injecting this mixture directly into the uterus using a standard transfer catheter.

What is the advantage of U-SET over standard IUI or IVF?
• Eggs along with sperm are injected into the uterine cavity maximizing chance of achieving pregnancy over standard IUI.
• In the U-SET procedure, the egg and sperm undergo very little manipulation; as the egg and sperm do not spend any time in an incubator and are not exposed to culture media for any extended period of time.
• No embryos are created in the laboratory and therefore no issues relating to the freezing of embryos or the disposition of excess embryos will arise.
• Lower cost associated with U-SET compared to traditional IVF.
• Decreased risk of ovarian hyperstimulation.
• Achieve pregnancy in a more “natural” way than by the use of IVF.
• Decreased risk of multiple births.
